Leatherhead CC Social Twenty20 League

We have seven teams in one league this year, making a total of 6 games each this season. There will be no play-offs this year, with the league winner taking the trophy.

One umpire will be appointed who will stand at both ends and who will have the final word on all matters relating to the game.

The Match Manager for all games this season will be the Club Bar Manager, Mr John Slevin who can be contacted on 07759 426686. John will be the main point of contact on the day of a game for any issues relating to weather or other difficulties.

A square leg umpire must be provided by the batting side unless someone suitable is hanging around and prepared to help out. The batting side is also responsible for keeping score and updating the scoreboard.

All matches will be played at Fetcham Grove, Leatherhead with a 6pm start. Late start or slow play will mean reduced overs per side at the sole discretion of the appointed umpire.

Match fees are once again £40 per team per game. They should be either paid for the season (£240) by cheque payable to Leatherhead Cricket club c/o Jamie Mead 37 Badingham Drive, Fetcham, Leatherhead, Surrey KT22 9EU or paid on the day in cash (£40) to John Slevin.

All games will take place on the artificial wicket, which means no spikes for batters or bowlers please.

The match will comprise 20 overs of 6 balls each per side.

No extra ball shall be awarded for wides or no balls except in the last two overs of each innings.

All deliveries passing wide down the leg side to a batsman in his normal stance shall be called as wide.

2 runs will be awarded for a wide or a no ball including in the last two overs of each innings.

Two bowlers will be allowed to bowl 4 overs each. All other bowlers will be limited to 3 overs per bowler. Please note the change this year which means you will need to use a minimum of 6 bowlers instead of 5 in previous years.

Batsmen must retire on reaching 50 and are not able to return to the wicket. A retirement does not count as a wicket for bonus points.

16 points for a win

10 points each for a tie

8 points each for an abandoned game

1 batting bonus point for reaching each of 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150 and 160 respectively making a maximum of 7 batting points

1 bowling bonus point for taking 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9  and 10 wickets respectively making a maximum of 7 bowling points

If less than 5 overs of play for each side are possible due to weather then the match will be declared abandoned and no bonus points awarded.

If more than 5 overs of play are possible for the team batting second, but the match cannot be completed due to poor weather then the result shall be decided on straight run rate per ball and any bonus points accrued will stand.

In the event that a team is unable to fulfill a fixture, then they shall concede the game and 20 points will be awarded to the “winning” team.

In the event that teams finish on the same number of points, the team with the most number of wins shall be placed highest. If they are the same, then the team with the most bowling points shall prevail, and if they are the same then the team with the most batting points shall prevail. If they are the same, then they will tie.

A representative from each team must register the score for each of their games and claim the number of points earned by emailing the result as soon as practical after each game to jamielmead@btinternet.com.
